What it covers
Oral surgery covers the procedures that go beyond a dentist's usual work: removing broken or impacted teeth, removing cysts, building up bone before an implant and preparing the jaw for a denture.
Each one is planned with X-rays in advance. You know what will be done, how long it takes and how you will feel afterwards.
What to expect
Procedures are done under local anaesthetic; during the procedure you feel no pain, only pressure. In the first days afterwards there may be swelling and mild discomfort, controlled with ordinary medication. You receive the aftercare instructions in writing.
